Making  Wooden  Nunchaku:

a- Buy from any hardwood store or a Mall enough hardwood for the amount of chucks you want to make and buy only hardwood. You will need around 36  centimeters per handle per each chuck (1 pair = 2 handles , 2 handles = 72 centimeters).

b- Buy a nylon colored rope ( I use the yellow for the gold Nunchaku and the brown and white for the black one) .

c- Buy the paints you want for your Nunchaku and choose any colors you want, I usually use the gold and black, and do not forget to buy protective gloss paint that will protect the paint and give the chucks a reflective surface too. For more fun while playing with the chucks or for a special glow kata buy glow in the dark paint.

d- Measure out 36 centimeters per each handle. cut outside of the line, don't cut to the inside of your chucks will end up shorter then they should be.

e- Measure 2 centimeters down from the top of each handle. Mark the 1st drill hole, then from the hole you just marked. Measure out another hole 2 centimeters down.

f- Drill the marked holes in a way that they should be on the same direction as each other.

g- Drill it down to reach the first hole and try to keep the vertical hole as centered as you can.

h- Sand back the chucks and the corners of the holes till they are smooth. I use wax to make the corners smooth so that the rope won't cut.

i- Paint the chucks and don't paint the table or the place you are working on.

j- Weave the rope through starting from the vertical top hole, going down around into the bottom hole. Through to the other side, back up to the top hole then out through the vertical hole. Straight to the other handle and repeat it so that you can tie a knot. The rope should be the length of your palm. Mine is around 10 centimeters.

Making Chrome Nunchaku:

a- Buy from any workshop enough chrome pipes for the amount of chucks you want to make. You will need around 33 centimeters per handle per each chuck (1 pair = 2 handles , 2 handles = 66 centimeters).

b- Buy enough chains for the chucks medium in size about 1 centimeter each ring.

c- Get brass or copper nails or even screws and ask for the hard ones ( 1 nail for each handle = 2 nails for each Nunchaku ).

d- Measure out 33 centimeters per each handle. By using the electric chrome cutter, cut outside of the line, don't cut to the inside of your chucks will end up shorter than they should be, and whet both ends of the handles so that you won't hurt yourself while playing with them.

e-Take the chains and measure out 10 centimeters and cut, I usually count 9 rings and cut and the reason is that two rings will enter the pipe ( 1 ring in each side ) and the outside rings will be 7 where all should be the length of your palm.

f- Start by measuring 2 centimeters down from the top of each handle and mark a drill hole, drill the hole so that it is the same diameter as the nail , and do not drill each hole alone and try to keep the holes on the side going in the same direction as each other so that the nail or screw will fit without forcing.

g- Enter the first ring of the chain in the handle to reach the first hole, then enter the brass nail or screw from the hole into the ring to get out from the second side hole.

h- By using the solder try to solder each side of the nail with some brass, then cut the unneeded parts of the nail outside of the handles, after that solder both holes and whet them carefully.

i- Do the same thing with the second handle.

j- Hide the Brass color by surrounding the two handles with yellow or white electric tape, I use the yellow one.

Making Dazzler Nunchaku:

There are many ways to make a Dazzler Nunchaku but I prefer this one:

a- You can buy from any bookstore some shiny book covers usually known as dazzler rolls, or you can buy some dazzler stickers for the cars from any mall, and be sure to get the best quality, I myself use the self-adhesive vinyl dazzlers.

b- Search for some plastic pipes for the amount of chucks you want to make no matter what is the color, but be careful they should be hard heavy plastic pipes ( not that heavy ), You will need around 32 centimeters per handle per each chuck (1 pair = 2 handles , 2 handles = 64 centimeters).

c- Buy a nylon colored rope for the chucks, I use the same color as the dazzler rolls ( I use green, silver, gold colors).

d- Measure out 32 centimeters per each handle, cut outside of the line, don't cut to the inside, that will end up your chucks shorter than they should be.

e- Measure 3 centimeters down from the top of each handle. Mark the 1st drill hole, then from the hole you just marked. Measure out another hole 3 centimeters down.

f- Drill the holes and whet the edges so that the rope won't cut, I use the lighter so that the plastic will smoothly melt (no sharp edges).

g- Peel the covers and stick them on the pipes, be sure that there is no air bubbles.

h- Weave the rope through starting from the vertical top opening, going down around into the bottom hole. Through to the other side, back up to the top hole then out through the vertical opening. Straight to the other handle and repeat it so that you can tie a knot. The rope should be the length of your palm. Mine is around 10 centimeters.
